Astral Archive/Challenge Mode
A cat appears in the Spacetime Rift.
Following it, Aldo finds himself

After you have fought the Seal Monster in both Hard and Very Hard and clear their associated Pledges, you will unlock Challenge difficulty. In this mode, each boss will have a set turn limit which define how long the battle last. Your aim in this mode is to get a high Score which is calculated based on damage done to the boss as well as other bonus.
Note that getting to Score Threshold 10 is very difficult as this battle mechanic limits your party selection, limit your ability to use multiple Another Force, requires high level equipment, and keeps the battle to a guaranteed 5 turns.
Score Calculations[edit]
- Currently all Challenge Modes last 5 turns.
- The enemy HP will not fall to 0, the enemy will survive all turns, and the enemy will still aim to defeat the party. By the last turn, the enemy will preform an AOE attack against the party.
- The score formula is as follows:

Explanation of Bonuses[edit]
- Act Bonus: When a character whose Personalities meets the bonus conditions performs a normal attack/skill/Valor Chant, they will receive an Act Bonus (max once per turn).
- Support/Restore and other skills that don't inflict damage grant a x1.5 Act Bonus however hybrid skill that deal damage and restore will not gain the support bonus.
- AF Bonus: During Another Force, Act Bonuses will not be added. In exchange, an Another Force Bonus of 50 per activation will be added.
- Another Force: The total damage will cap at 999,999,999
- Party Bonus: If ALL of your party members fulfill the same Personality bonus condition, you will gain a +1000 Party Bonus at the start of battle.
- Default Bonus: If the combined total of the other bonuses is less than 100, the Default Bonus will provide +100, otherwise this will be +0
Team Building Tips[edit]
- To maximize on the score, bring characters that can raise the Act Bonus so bring characters with Personalities who can fulfill the Act Bonus
- Characters who can fulfil multiple personalities can help raise the Act Bonus as Act Bonus for each personality will be counted.
- Aim for Party Bonus to get the extra +1000 for Party Bonus
- Book of Geo Anguirus is considered difficult as currently it is not possible to get Party Bonus due to there being less than 6 characters who have corresponding Personalities.
- Minimize the amount of Another Force you use in these battle as Another Force will only give a AF Bonus of +50 and damage score for the turn will cap at 999,999,999
- Avoid using Overthrow as the enemies in this mode are designed to have low levels.
Rewards[edit]
- The score requirements vary per boss.
- The type of Guiding Light or Luring Shadow varies per boss.
- The Challenger's Merit shows off that you've achieved the highest score threshold.
