Battle Simulator

Out of the blue, Sebastia asks Aldo and the others to come see her.
She's got plans for them concerning a certain "battle simulator"...
Battle Simulator[edit]
Other used names: Boss Rush, Revival: Duel with the Past, Sebastia's Lab
Battle Simulator is a new mechanic introduced in Ver 2.7.500 that allows you to fight multiple bosses the party have met during their time traveling adventures throughout the game. This game-mode is available to all players who have completed Part 1 of the main story, in which a new quest marker will unlock in Sebastia's home in the Elzion Theta District. If Sebastia is not in the area due to current quest progress, then you cannot start the event to unlock Sebastia's Lab.
Available Stages[edit]
Mechanics[edit]
Basics[edit]
Battle Simulation features multiple stages, separated in two difficulties: Normal and Extreme, where each stage are given a difficulty level represented by numbers. The higher the number of Difficulty, the more prepared the player needs to be. Defeat a stage to move on to the next stage, and Extreme stages are unlocked only when all Normal stages are completed. In order to start a stage, 1 Bold Pulse is required, and 1 key will refresh every 6 hours, similar to Red and Green keys for Another Dungeons, to a maximum of 3 keys. However, when you used a key on a stage, you can play the stage without the need to use another
Bold Pulse for 6 hours since the time you use one, so retry as much as you need in order to complete the stage and optional missions. In exiting a Battle Simulator Stage HP, MP and AF will restore as if the party have rested in a rest stop.
Stage Mechanics[edit]
A Battle Simulator Stage allows you to fight multiple bosses at the same time, so a stage will be divided into multiple waves. Stages will define how many waves are in the battle. Note that the various enemies may have HP stoppers and other gimmicks. Note this means that you are not allowed to eat food or swap parties in between waves, and that the amount of HP and MP of your characters remaining will be carry over to the next wave. In addition, your AF bar will start at half full, no matter how full it is when you explore outside, but the AF bar will not replenish to half for each wave. However the charge for sidekicks and EX bar for ES characters will remain instead of being emptied out.
Optional Challenges “Clear Mission State”[edit]
Stages also give optional missions that require you to clear the battle with unique battle requirements to gain unique rewards. This is similar to Astral Archive's Pledges. Completing trials will also unlock unique cutscenes that can be replayed.
Cutscenes[edit]
- The Two Galliards
- Guides of the Future
- Lessons of a Flower
- End of Desire
- Embrace the Void
- Those Sunk in Prayer
Tips[edit]
- Sidekicks do not count toward character max count.
- Iphis Blood Contract does not count toward knocked out characters.
- End Of Turn effects may be skipped when transitioning between waves.
Frogicide Farming[edit]
A popular technique is "frogicide", or frog farming: enter Trial to Light the Darkness of Time stage 4 (fighting Cyrus), use a strong earth attacker (such as May with maxed Hammer of Bond or Prismatic Hammer and appropriate equipment) to one-shot each wave, and fill the other five party slots with characters or manifestations that need experience. With the introduction of Main Story Part 3 entering Phase Shifts gives the same amount of experience per hour.
Both F2P friendly approaches for the Normal stage and approaches to pre-grasta farming the Extreme version of the stage can be found here.
