Stellar Awakening

Characters can be divided into different classes. Each class can equip certain kinds of weapons and armor, learn different kinds of skills and have different Valor Chants. In 1 q.png Main Story Chapter 11, in the Time's Forgotten Shop, you are introduced to Lady Midd who can upgrade/sidegrade a character as well encounter new allies from other time layers.

Portrait Name Description
502020005.normal.png Lady Midd (Middalysse) A mysterious old lady in the Spacetime Rift. She will release the hidden powers of characters in exchange for memoirs and scripts.

Characters can battle in 1 style only so you can not have both a Normal Style and Another Style/Extra Style in the same party. Any characters with a different style, that you also own, will result in the lower leveled style gaining 2.5x EXP from battles. See Character EXP Table for more details.

Ability Points for the Skill Board are shared between Normal Style, Another Style, and Extra Style. In addition, completing the full Ability Board for a 5★ character will provide a stats bonus to the character's other 5★ style(s).

Normal Style[edit]

Characters can upgrade to a higher class by using a special item known as a Memoir. By changing classes, the character will get a new ability board, gain access to better skills and be able to reach a higher maximum level. You can also sidegrade a character to their 5★ NS if you have the associated character Another Style or Extra Style form. Characters that can be found in the overworld will be found using this style. The tomes can found in defined 564000003.png Another Dungeon. Look at the Tome List for a specific tome.

  • Note you must either have a 4★ NS, 5★ AS, or 5★ ES of the character to unlock the 5★ NS (Normal Style)

The default requirements for upgrading a 4★ to a 5★ NS (Normal Style) character is

Exceptions[edit]

Not all character follow the above pattern, this section describe characters who do not follow the default formula but still require Lady Midd to help class change.

The Symphony characters who are not automatically upgraded to 5★ Normal Style require only a unique tome and no scripts.

1 q.png Main Story Characters

UnknownCharacter.png
UnknownCharacter.png

The Free Characters who join in the Main Story and are not initially a 5★ require progress in Main Story and perhaps some progress on a related side quest as well as the following materials. Similar to the the Symphony characters, these characters do not require usage of Chant Script

Outside of Feinne, a limited amount of psalms for all Main Story Characters can be acquired at Nopaew Emporium. For Feinne, while her materials are given in the storyline, you can purchase unlimited Noble Maiden Psalm at Underworld (Another Dungeon) which is useful for Valor Chant Grasta Farming

28 q.png Other Tales Characters

Ciel & Miyu are unique in that they are characters who require Psalms but how they are upgraded is different from other characters. You must complete the character associated Other Tale questline to unlock their 5★ class and then obtain the following materials from running the associated Another Dungeon on 564000003.png x45. Bivette is a similiar to Ciel & Miyu in that you must complete the Cat Battle System close to completion to obtain the needed psalms.

81 q.png Chance Encounter Characters

The Chance Encounter Characters are unique in that these characters are acquired at 4★ rarity (2★ for Gariyu) at the completion of their chance encounter and need to be upgraded to their 5★ class. Similar to other characters, you must hunt for their specific 5★ Tome. Azami, Cerrine, Gariyu, need 5 Chant Scripts to upgrade to 5★.

Note that Astral Archive will return 1 Chant Script for upgrading Azami, Cerrine, and Gariyu to their 5★ NS lowering the net cost of Chant Scripts to 4

81 q.png Promotion Quests

Promotion Quests, similar to chance encounter involve a series of boss fights that can be found in the overworld. A Tome is usually provided upon completion of the chance encounter quest and the Chant Script cost is reduced from 5 to 1. Jade is unique in that the Chant Script cost is not reduced.

Bria

By default, Bria is a 3★ unit that can be acquired only through the Gallery of Dreams. Once you have completed 22 q.png First Knight and the Holy Sword, her 4★ board becomes available. First Knight and the Holy Sword will grant you a guaranteed Griffin Lance Tome at 37,500 Gaiden diadora2.png Ethereal Dewdrops. Once Bria is a 4★ unit, bring Bria to the Serena Coast to commence her 5★ upgrade quest which will unlock the 5★ board.

110.png Ensemble Characters

Ensembles are considered as a small sidestory that expands on a set of characters backstory. Benedict requires completion of Commander and Sheep to unlock his 5★ class as well as the needed psalms. May requires completion of Heroes of Bygone Days and the Engraved Oath to unlock her 5★ class as well as the needed psalms.

Another Style (AS)[edit]

Another Style characters share the same weapon type and element as their Normal Style and share the same ability board for 1★ to 4★ class as their Normal Style counterpart. Another Style also unlock all of the Normal Style character quests and if you have a 4★ NS, you can unlock their Normal Style manifest. All Treatises can be obtained from any of the reward slots at the end of 564000001.png564000003.png select Another Dungeons, at a rate of 0.1% per each one that exists. Look at the Treatise, Codex, Opus List to see which Another Dungeons drop Treatises.

  • There have been cases where 4★ skills are improved on release of AS to assist the character battle mechanics which can also be beneficial to NS.
  • Note you must either have a 4★ NS, 5★ NS, or 5★ ES of the character to unlock the 5★ AS (Another Style)
  • You can purchase 2 Treatises at Nopaew Emporium.

The default requirements for upgrading a character to a 5★ AS (Another Style) character is

It should be noted that there are several characters that have a 5★ AS but have a max rarity capped 4★ NS and that they will have an extra 20 AP(Ability Points) in their Skill Board.

81 q.png Awaken Series

As the story has expanded, similar to chance encounters, a series of 5 fights have been used for unlocking 5★ AS classes as well. The Another Style require having the Normal Style version of the character at their max rarity, but will not require any additional scripts/tomes. Instead, they are obtained upon completion of the related fights and their stories.

Extra Style (ES)[edit]

Extra Style characters do not share the same weapon type and element as their Normal Style or Another Style and have a different set of skills. Extra Style Characters also enable the EX Special Move Gauge if they are in the party. Not all Extra Style characters will have a different weapon type but for those that do have different weapon type, you can apply a different Destiny ten item.png/Destiny mei item.png item to increase their Destiny ten item.png/Destiny mei item.png. Extra Style also unlock all of the Normal Style character quests and if you have a 4★ NS, you can unlock their Normal Style manifest. All Codexes can be obtained from any of the reward slots at the end of 564000001.png564000003.png select Another Dungeons, at a rate of 0.1% per each one that exists. Look at the Treatise, Codex, Opus List to see which Another Dungeons drop Codexes.

  • You can purchase 2 Codexes at Nopaew Emporium.
  • Note you must either have a 4★ NS, 5★ NS, or 5★ AS of the character to unlock the 5★ ES (Extra Style)

The default requirements for upgrading a character to a 5★ ES (Extra Style) character is

Parallel Time Layer Characters (PTL or AC)[edit]

Parallel Time Layer characters are Alternate Self of existing playable characters with different history than their original counterparts. Although they may bear the same name, they are considered separate character, occupy different party slots and have different Destiny ten item.png/Destiny mei item.png points. They also have their own character quests, with their first character quest accessible even if you do not possess the character.

The community refers to these characters as "alters" and use "AC" as an suffix identifier.

AC Characters can awaken zone and are currently the only type of characters to possess the passive known as Another Sense. When equipping AC characters, they will have a purple shade chip around their name to identify the equipment is currently on a AC and not the Original character. AC Characters can only be obtained at the 5★ rarity and are considered in game as NS. For some characters, Lady Midd may not allow you to encounter the character if you do not have the achievement of knowing their true name.

Currently AC Characters can come from one of the following time layers

If you have the associated character NS (Normal Style) form, Lady Midd will be able to encounter the character with three Opuses memoirs. WFS did mention in a livestream that in a future version, you may be able to encounter the AC using the original's AS/ES styles but this feature is currently not supported.[1]

Note that if an AC Character or Original Character is obtained by sidegrading from one to the other, that unit will start with 0 Destiny ten item.png/Destiny mei item.png points. If you have AC Character and are trying to obtain their Original Character, you will still be required to obtain the Opuses unless you have a form of the Original Character. Opuses can only be obtained, at a rate of 0.1% from select 564000003.png Another Dungeons. Look at the Treatise, Codex, Opus List to see which Another Dungeons drop Opuses.

  • You must have the NS style of the original character to unlock the AC character
  • You must have the AC character to use this system to unlock the original character NS style
    • (You can also upgrade a 4★ NS of the original character using this system.)

Exceptions[edit]

101030161 rank5 command.png
101040171 rank5 command.png
101050151 rank5 command.png

Some characters require completion of The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales to learn the character's true name and Lady Midd will not be able to encounter the character until you complete the relevant chapter. You can still encounter these characters from the Gallery of Dreams.

Not PTL/AC Characters[edit]

The following characters are not considered to be a AC character because their original version counterpart is not going to join the party for various reasons.

  • Curio is not considered a AC character because his original character >>spoiler<<is considered an enemy.
  • Orleya is not considered a AC character because her original character >>spoiler<<has died and because Aldo can't travel to her time period in his time layer.
  • Alma is not considered a AC character because her original character >>spoiler<<has died.
  • Yakumo is not considered a AC character because his original character >>spoiler<<is the branch chief.
  • Radias & Zeviro are not considered AC characters because the concept of AC character was created after their release
    • Radias's original character >>spoiler<<named Laminas, works as an innkeeper and supports the Miglance Knights.
    • Zeviro's original character >>spoiler<<works in Purgatory as a reaper under Daisy and has a business contract with Dunarith. He is a coworker to Ilulu.
