Story[edit]

Character Quest 1[edit]

For Admiration's Sake

It looks like Chiyo wants to find out about life outside the Dragon Palace. Especially the magic school in Palsifal Palace.

Aldo and Chiyo walk through the halls of Palsifal Palace and he asks about her background: long ago, Sheila saved Chiyo from a band of pirates. Thankful to Sheila, Chiyo became her handmaiden and now wants to learn all she can about other palaces so she can be more useful. Aldo mentions that they can visit the Magic Classroom first.

The two enter the classroom and witness an angry boy and a girl in a heated discussion. Chiyo begins to shake, as she has a history of being bullied; Aldo realizes that the band of pirates Chiyo was referring to were actually children. The angry boy soon storms off and leaves. Aldo and Chiyo approach the girl, who explains that the boy was unable to run due to a poisoned bite. The girl believes that if she cured him he wouldn’t be mean anymore. Aldo thus offers to help bring fresh ingredients to improve the girl’s potions.

While picking ingredients, Chiyo confesses to Aldo that though she wants to help Sheila, she also wants to be like her. Aldo offhandedly says that he couldn’t ever imagine Chiyo to be cool like Sheila and gets her angry.

They proceed to pick more ingredients at Keruri Highroad, where they pick a pure feather from a Broiler and Chiyo tries to be cool to prove Aldo wrong. After the fight, Aldo tells Chiyo that he likes that she is willing to help children, even though she is afraid of them.

They return to the girl and Chiyo realizes that she misread the ingredients. Despite the error, the boy drinks the potion, which works immediately, making the boy able to run faster than ever. He then apologizes to her for being mean. After watching the kids, Chiyo realizes that being close to someone you look up to is far more important than being similar to them. “I don’t think I’ll ever be like Lady Sheila, all smart ‘n’ stylish,” she says, “But I can still be by her side and lend a helpin’ hand where ever I can.”

Character Quest 2[edit]

That’s One Beautiful Lake

Having seen the lake at Laula Dome, Chiyo is now insisting on taking a swim in it.

In Laula Dome, Chiyo and Aldo discuss how cramped and suffocating the future is, especially Elzion. They make Laula Dome an exception, for it it is peaceful there, although she would be even happier if there was a place to swim in.

They two visit the small pond and witness how dirty the water is. A scholar overhears them and urges them to acquire a water purifier from a technician in Elzion to clean it.

Once in Elzion, Chiyo and Aldo visit the technician, who asks for a dispersion mechanism from a Search Bit Mk II to create a high-quality purifier that will purify the water instantly.

They get the dispersion mechanism at Elzion’s Airport and go back to the technician, who builds the purifier for them.

Finally, they go back to Laura Dome to put the purifier into the water. Chiyo enthusiastically jumps into the clean pond, greatly embarrassing Aldo, who runs away. After Chiyo gets out of, the scholar approaches them and is surprised to find DNA belonging to an extinct sea turtle in the water. Chiyo then becomes flustered and admits to have peed in it due to her excitement, confusing Aldo as to how that has anything to do with the sea turtle…

Character Quest AS[edit]

Tidal Companions

The Dragon Palace is buzzing with activity. Amongst the commotion, Aldo spots a beautifully dressed person. Who could she be?

Aldo witnesses chaos in the Dragon Palace and rushes to rescue someone crying, believing that a monster is around. It is revealed that everyone is just helping someone get dressed up in a bridal gown, although she is being kind of a brat. When she shows herself, she seems to know Aldo, but he doesn’t recognize the beautiful lady at first. He does, however, after hearing her speak: it is Chiyo wearing her Sayorihime Style!

She tells everyone to leave the room and asks for Aldo’s help. She is supposed to get married to someone important who will calm the raging sea, and Sheila hasn’t said anything or allowed to be seen since everything has been decided. Aldo thus decides to help Chiyo sneak into Sheila’s room to talk to her, although Chiyo is worried that Sheila now hates her and wants to marry her off.

An apologetic guard, however, doesn’t let them in, stating that no one can see Sheila. Chiyo tries to protest, but he doesn’t relent. Finally, Chiyo gives up and decides to obey her orders, thinking that Sheila doesn’t want to see her because she is too clumsy, admitting to Aldo that she recently made a mistake that caused some troubles.

To show her love to Sheila before being married off, Chiyo decides to gift her a hairpin made with the scales of a fish that they used to chase when they were little, but never succeeded to catch.

The duo goes to the past Dragon Palace, where Aldo spots the fish, but scares it away with his voice. Chiyo explains that the fish runs away whenever it hears voices and that she used to scare them away all of the time by making a huge scene. She admits that she was a little happy that they never caught the fish, because it gave her and Sheila a reason to skip classes together. Aldo tells her that she is more like a friend than a handmaiden to Sheila, but she is horrified by how disrespectful that sounds.

Chiyo details how she washed up on a beach with her shell cracked, when kids started poking her with sticks until Sheila arrived to save her life. It seemed like she was about to die, but then turned into her current form. As a matter of fact, she is a sea turtle that was turned into a girl! She reminds a shocked Aldo how the scholar in Laula Dome found sea turtle DNA in the pond.

After her story, Chiyo realizes that the fish has left behind some of its scales and makes a hairpin out of them. As they are about to go give it Sheila though, a sea turtle palanquin appears to take Chiyo away, stating that there is a group of monsters attacking the future Dragon Palace!

They find the monsters and Chiyo recognizes them as the ones that attacked her in the raging sea the day she almost died. Despite being scared, she decides to fight them nonetheless to protect Sheila and the Dragon Palace. Chiyo successfully defeats the monsters after a strange light gathers on her clothes, but later breaks down thinking about her departure, and Aldo consoles her.

As Chiyo loudly cries that she doesn’t want to leave and get married, Sheila approaches them confused and states that they simply cannot see each other during the Binding of the Tides ceremony and that Chiyo didn’t know about it because she fell asleep during the briefing. Sheila explains that the ceremony takes place once every few decades in order to calm the sea, involves two maidens, the God of Tides and the hero, and is divided in four acts: Closing of the Tides: the God of Tides, played by Sheila, shuts the door to her room and stays inside for days; Entreaty of the Tides: the hero, played by Chiyo, visits the God of Tides’ room and asks her to open up, but the door cannot be opened no matter what; Linking of the Tides: the hero defeats some monsters and goes to gift the God of Tides with the treasure she obtains from them.

Everyone was thus convinced that Chiyo was extremely committed to her role! When Sheila thinks that the ceremony was a failure due to the lack of treasure, Chiyo shows her the hairpin, explaining why she made it. Surprisingly, Chiyo has unknowingly completed all of the first free acts and they can proceed to the last act: Wedding ceremony between the God of Tides and the hero.

Finally, everyone gathers around Sheila’s room to party. Sheila tells the legend according to which the God of Tides was laying waste to the sea because a bad monster appeared, the hero defeated this monster to give as a gift to the god, and accidentally saved her in the process. The God of Tides then fell for the hero and sent a sea turtle palanquin to propose to the hero, who accepted, and they got married.

Sheila, however, admits that she thinks that the ceremony’s true purpose is to make them prepare for the monsters that appeared, as she doesn’t believe that it was a coincidence. They deduce that the monsters appear when the tide gets more violent and preparing for their arrival has become a ceremony over the years. As Sheila cannot figure out the purpose of the fourth act, Aldo reveals that a strange light gathered on Chiyo’s clothes during her fight. Sheila then realizes that the bridal gown is a divine artifact that gives the wearer power and that the third and fourth acts may have been reversed.

Chiyo then tells Sheila that she wants to be with her forever, and Sheila tells her that she likes her mistakes, how weirdly lucky she is, and all of that entails her, making her cry of happiness. As Sheila gifts Chiyo the hairpin, she reveals that she never really care about it, as it was just an excuse to spend time with Chiyo.
