Story[edit]

Character Quest 1[edit]

The Pirate’s Treasure is Thicker than Water

An old former pirate that Denny helped out has given him information about some treasure. Treasure that’s connected in some way to Denny...

“Whenever I go through these doors I get the feeling of being home. This tavern really is my home away from home!” Denny declares as he and Aldo walk into Unigan’s tavern. The tavern’s master interrupts, handing Denny a letter from an old friend of his. After reading the letter Denny implores Aldo to get back to Baruoki. It’s a treasure hunt.

When Aldo and Denny arrive at Baruoki, they get stopped by a senior. He is the one who sent the letter. The senior, being an old pirate friend of Denny’s, asks the two to talk inside Baruoki’s tavern. While reminiscing on the past, the two pirates recall how Old Tom and Denny were like brothers. Denny hasn’t seen Old Tom since he was lost at sea. Speaking of which, the senior had found an old note pertaining to the treasure, saying that Old Tom had hidden a map in a well.

Once inside one of Baruoki’s wells, Aldo finds a hand-drawn map wedged in between two bricks. According to the map, Old Tom’s treasure is in the Moonlight Forest. The two arrive at the treasure spot and dig. They get interrupted by the zombie of Old Tom defending his treasure and a fight begins. After this, Denny opens the treasure chest. Inside it is a normal old knife. Denny and Aldo return to Baruoki’s tavern to inform the senior.

There is a reason Old Tom treasured that knife: it was the knife he and Denny used to seal the blood bond that made them brothers. The quest ends with the three celebrating Old Tom’s life.

Character Quest 2[edit]

A Pirate’s Heart is Fickle as the Seas

Royal Soldiers are asking for Denny in the Rinde Tavern. It doesn’t appear to be about anything good...

In Unigan, a friend of Denny’s approaches him. A woman in Rinde’s tavern warns the man that a soldier is looking out for Denny in Rinde. Denny decides to talk to the woman to learn more.

In Rinde’s tavern, the woman, the store staff, questions Denny why a soldier would hunt him down. Denny’s not surprised—considering he’s a pirate. Just then, a maiden rushes in. The maiden has run away from her noble family looking for him, and has been wanting to marry Denny after he saved her from harassment. Denny turns her down. She’s too young for him, and he likes older women. The Maiden runs away and the woman threatens banning Denny from the establishment if he doesn’t calm her down. Denny can’t have this, and chases after her.

Outside, the maiden and Denny enter a discussion about courtship. Soon, they get interrupted by the girl’s father. He accuses Denny of seducing his daughter in hopes of joining Unigan’s gentry. Denny denies this, and the maiden’s father forcefully takes her away. Denny watches them enter the Serena Coast and worries about their safety. He decides that he’ll watch over them on their way to Unigan.

He sees the maiden and her father surrounded by monsters and promptly fights them off. After the fight the father apologizes to Denny for his aggressive behavior and confesses that he had the guard go looking for him. Changing his mind, the father gives Denny his blessing to marry his daughter. Denny turns the offer down again, saying that his life is for the open sea. “But you know, that girl… She definitely left an impression on me,” he says to himself, “If we meet again in 20 years or so, I might actually consider it…”
