In-Game Description
A Soprano singer with a group of performers from the floating city of Nilva. He also plays the harp, and is so good that people say he might be magically gifted. Perhaps as a result of being the youngest of five, he has a tendency to act spoiled.
Lore[edit]
Most of his lore & story is focused around his 
Other Tales questline, Foreign Skies and the Ship to Freedom, and his family. That questline does have spoilers for later parts of the game, as Shannon plays a role in future plotlines. The spoilers below mainly discuss plot points covered in The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales chapters 2 and onward (main story Ch 44).
>>spoiler<<Ciel's family fled an alternate time layer and settled near Nilva before he was born. The Garden Island is a spaceship similar to the Riftbreaker (likely more powerful), with powerful security features as they are still being pursued. The time layer they came from forbade any form of personal expression, so Ciel's family became very eccentric once they were able to express themselves. Ciel, the youngest, is the only one who was born in the main time layer, and prior to the events of his Other Tales questline, did not know about his family's origins.
His family's mysterious nature has made them an investigation target of the COA, and the agent assigned to them changed frequently due to stress / being chased out on purpose, prior to Renri and the events of Foreign Skies and the Ship to Freedom. >>spoiler<<Their secretive nature is largely because the advanced technology they use could have catastrophic influence on Elzion, resulting in Renri not reporting this information to the Administrator. Because of all of this, Shannon (and to a lesser extent, Ciel) know a lot about time distortions, and time / time layer travel, which is occasionally made use of in the plot.
>>spoiler<<All of the servants at the mansion were previously sent to capture them and drag Ciel and his family back to their original time layer. After being beaten and captured, they learned about freedom and became very quirky servants. Ciel has a very good relationship with all of them.
Trivia[edit]
- One of the (very few) characters with gender marked as "unknown" in the party menu. His sidequests make it clear that he is male.
- Younger brother of Shannon
- Ciel's 4 other older sisters have unknown whereabouts. It is unclear what location (or time period) they are in.
- The hanging gardens floating island is actually a large ship that can travel through space & time, like the Riftbreaker
- Views Aldo as an older brother figure.
