Hello. I see an update was made to the character cargo table that removed the Stances category. Would it be possible to add it back in or could you tell me where I might find the relevant data for each character? I download a custom cargo to a spreadsheet to manage which characters I have and their elements, stances, etc. which helps quickly search up who can do what.

Well Stances weren't queried anywhere in wiki, and they can be detected from what skills do. But need to do some joins. Post your old query I will look at what data are you targeting to get from it and change it if possible.

So my point is, why over explain things you aren't sure how to work. If you wanted to add "Write every word in page titles capitalized" should have written just that, and its questionable still. Every other point is just straight wrong. So it was removed.

To summarize: Content search works with any letters. Search pop-up searches exact matched pages. Cargo isn't related to search anyhow, and queries work with any letters. Nothing more to say on this.

In an effort to avoid an edit war I like to clarify why I added it. The cargo queries can pick up on small and capital letters, but only if it’s first, second and following words are originally written with a small or capital letters first. Try searching for How To Help Wiki instead of How to help Wiki or Main story instead of Main Story and see if it shows up. The other point about writing in neutral point of view was an attempt to explain why for anyone not familiar with cargo queries but can otherwise be removed from the sentence. Hopefully this clears up the edit and questions you have and I’ll leave the decision to you to leave it on the page or not.

You keep mentioning "cargo queries"... first: wiki search isn't cargo query and cargo queries don't work like you describe it at all. second: wiki search pop-up is just wiki search pop up, and specifically wiki search can find all your mentioned cases just fine in Page title matches and Page text matches, even if page is not exact.

So making such misleading "guideline" isn't really needed at all.

Anedditor (talkcontribs)

From what I understand about wiki search it saves the page name and section title to cargo query to be searched for and that’s what any wiki search is looking for. For your second point it doesn’t address the issue of ether having to know the perhaps never seen pagename before or writing it exactly letter for letter for it to show up, unless you want to search twice for it possibly making redirects obsulute in the process.

The guideline was written to make pages easier to look for by eliminating the first lowercase letters in a word, making searching for a headline easier, and less misleading for having one than having both lowercase letters and capital letters in the headline.

Additionally how the wiki search function works should be put on that page.

Voiddp (talkcontribs)

Your understanding is wrong. Search isn't related to cargo. Cargo query is querying function for cargo db, not some place where anything is saved. Databases\Cargo\any other aren't even mediawiki core function, just external plugin. Title search popup isn't the only search, more full search option is already included in search popup, no need guide for that.

There is no problematic with explaining how search works, there is no problematic with mass creation of low case pages. Just don't create guides how some "dumb mass of editors" has to do things some "right way" without even problem present. Editors aren't as stupid and random new people do not go on new page creating spree anyway. What you need to do if you see 1 rare titled page is to just move it and make it right way.
