It’s lovely to meet you. My name is Soira. I may not look it, but I belong to an order of knights. I know my way around a lance, but I still have a ways to go. I’ll do my best to not slow you down. You can trust me to guard the rest of the group, though. I really shine when I have someone to protect!

Story[edit]

Character Quest 1[edit]

The Karek Swampland Nuisance

An annoying monster is causing trouble in the Karek Swampland. Lakhesis, captain of the knights has called for aide, and Soira has answered...

Soira is summoned by Lakhesis in Miglance Castle and Aldo decides to go meet him with her. He assigns her to take care of a tricky monster in the Karek Swampland, as she is the only knight with no official commitments at the moment. He advises her to ask for a visiting hunter’s help in dealing with the monster’s speed.

Aldo and Soira find the hunter, who gives them a pouch full of high-strength chili powder that will prevent the monster from running away. They then go looking for the monster, but Soira gets bored and proposes a picnic and falls asleep after having her meal. The monster suddenly appears and Aldo wakes Soira up. She throws the pouch, but it hurtles through the air in the wrong direction. Luckily, a gust of wind changes its trajectory and directly hits the monster.

Aldo and Soira thus slay it and report back to Lakhesis and the hunter. The latter thinks that she is a hunting genius, but the former comments that it is her flag that brings good fortune. Apparently, the banner she always carries with her bestows uncanny luck.

Character Quest 2[edit]

The Sunshine Saga

There’s a merchant who has gotten stuck in the Karek Swampland. Soira and company have taken the goods to the Royal City in his stead...

A knight asks Soira to check up on a merchant carrying vital supplies in the Karek Swampland. Aldo decides to go with her and they find a lady carrying muscle supplements. After Soira comments on her pungent perfume, they carry her shipment to Unigan. However, the merchant disappears as soon as they arrive and the knight from earlier reveals that the boxes they brought are full of illegal potions.

The knight accuses them of being part of the illegal trading, since he only told them to check up on her, but Aldo replies that he wasn’t clear. Lakhesis arrives and takes over the investigation from the knight, who leaves. Soira thinks that the knight was planning to fence the illegal potions and Lakhesis leaves it in her hands.

Aldo and Soira go to the Serena Coast and find the merchant and the knight. Soira knew that the knight was involved with the merchant, because he was wearing the same perfume as her and he knew that the merchant was a woman. The knight and the merchant thus reveal themselves as beasts and explain that they had to wear the perfume to mask their scent.

The beasts take the illegal potion to become stronger, but Aldo and Soira manage to defeat them and report to Lakhesis, who rewards Soira with a decoration for her valor. He explains that rumors about her being a genius have been circulating and gives her the title of the Sunshine Knight.

Character Quest AS[edit]

Who Brings Happiness

Soira finds herself having to infiltrate a gathering of nobles. There, her reason for becoming a knight is made clear.

After being thanked by an elderly couple for her help at their shop, Soira goes looking for a place to nap. She has a dream of her father telling her to go home and learn about etiquette, because she is a noble. Aldo sees her and worries about her, and she decides to rest her eyes a little more. Lakhesis catches her in the act and gives her the mission to infiltrate a political event at Miglance Castle. Apparently, some nobles are against the new government and may attempt something drastic at the meeting, so he is assigning Soira to make sure that no one suspicious arrives.

Since she has skipped past ceremonies because they were boring, Soira is not known by the nobility. She isn’t interested, but Lakhesis argues that she is much better at infiltrating the event due to her noble birth, much to Aldo’s shock. He manages to convince Soira by promising her a lot of time off once the mission has been completed.

Soira asks Aldo to accompany her and they go to Miglance Castle, where they immediately notice tensions between nobility and the palace. Soira explains that the king appoints a noble to each region of the kingdom, but tensions appear over time. She knows a lot about the topic, as her father used to explain the topic of Miglance Kingdom’s nobility to her all the time.

She reveals that he was very strict. Soira learned how to wield the lance in secret and ran away to join the Imperial Knights as soon as she could. Their conversation is cut short when they run into Soira’s father. However, he doesn’t even stop to address his daughter. They see him meeting with a hooded man and Aldo goes ahead to confront him, though Soira isn’t ready yet.

Aldo tries to join the meeting, but a watchful noble doesn’t let him pass, claiming that his invitation must be fake. Soira then arrives in her Aristocrat Style and claims that Aldo is her guard. She completely changes her attitude to mimic her father’s and manages to pass through the noble, much to Aldo’s amazement.

She does admit that her dress helped with her bluff and revealed that she found it in her bag along with her family flag when she ran away from home. Aldo thinks that this means that her family cares about her, as they even gave her the family flag that brings her good luck, but Soira believes that they probably just wanted to get rid of the flag and the dress, adding that her father would have been happier with a more respectable daughter.

They then proceed to infiltrate the event, although Aldo has to help Soira up first, as she falls while trying to run in her dress. In the throne room, they want to look for Soira’s father, but the event begins before they can find him. King Miglance addresses everyone and the meeting seems to go smoothly. Soira notes that it must be thanks to the trust that everyone has on King Miglance and compares him and Mufilleux to sunshine, adding that they make her want to protect them.

They then notice the hooded man with a blade. Soira rushes to stop him, but trips on her dress, making everyone in front of her fall down with her. The commotion alerts King Miglance of the hooded man, who escapes. The King thanks Soira, who goes after the hood with Aldo. On their way, they pick up Soira’s father’s handkerchief.

They follow him to the Serena Coast, where the culprit has been found by some knights. Soira’s father is also there with other hooded men and is seemingly working with them. It is then revealed that the hooded men are actually beasts, and they have put Soira’s father under a spell that took advantage of his emotional weakness.

Soira’s father confesses that their family was too close-minded for his daughter and feels ashamed of how he treated her. However, the weaker he is, the stronger the spell he is under becomes. As he becomes overwhelmed by the spell, one of the beastmen proposes a deal with Soira: they will leave her father behind if she handles the knights for them.

Soira pretends to want to help them and wields her lance, which reflects the sunshine and blinds the beasts. This creates an opening for her and Aldo to rescue her father. They then defeat the beastmen, but a beast knight causes some rocks to fall down on Soira. Her father runs to shield her and they both become buried in the debris.

Luckily, both Soira and her father appear to be fine, as the rocks miraculously missed them. Aldo believes that it is because of Soira’s lucky flag, but her father claims that they don’t have such an item. Indeed, it turns out that it was actually him that protected Soira all this time with his feelings. However, he still has to face punishment for endangering the King, although his only crime was to fall under a spell.
