Character Quests[edit]
Character Quest 1: Small Incident[edit]
Melissa suddenly appears behind a Synth Human, and quickly dispatches him. She is then contacted by an unknown individual, with Melissa reporting on her mission's success and the unknown individual sending Melissa on another mission in the Industrial Ruins.
Inside the Industrial Ruins, Melissa is greeted by multiple hostile Synth Humans and drones. However, Melissa swiftly destroys them while evading their attacks. Further in, Melissa approaches two Synth Humans, brainwashing one and destroying the other with her bee drones. After using the brainwashed Synth Human to find their leader's hideout, Melissa then uses a bee drone to manipulate the leader into fighting her. The rest of the members, attracted to the scene, are also killed by Melissa.
In the airport, it is revealed that she was sent by Pacifist Synth Humans. While the Pacifist Synth Humans are talking, Melissa recieves a call from her maker. She then uses her bee drones to make the Pacifist Synth Humans hostile, and eliminates them. It is then revealed by her maker that Melissa is made to kill her own kind.
Later, Aldo spots Melissa, noting that she is covered in oil. Melissa tells him that it is of no importance, but Aldo is still worried.
Character Quest 2: Peaceful Room[edit]
Melissa is seen talking to her maker, who sends her on another mission to dispatch a new terrorist organization in the Industrial Ruins.
Inside the Industrial Ruins once more, Melissa pursues two Synth Humans running away from her. After dispatching one and almost destroying the other, the surviving Synth Human self-destructs, severely injuring Melissa. Pondering what she should do, she is found by a passing Older Synth Human who fixes her with an emergency repair kit. Introducing himself as Eddie, he offers to repair Melissa in his hideout in the Research Sector of Xeno-Domain. Melissa accepts the offer.
After being repaired in Xeno-Domain, Eddie has a talk with Melissa. In the conversation, Eddie recalls a slayer on the humans' side who ripped through his allies easily. Then, the alarm system is triggered, and Eddie goes out to see what happened. Melissa decides to follow him.
Melissa finds Eddie talking to his former allies. Unfortunately, their beliefs clash, and Melissa is captured. Following this, Melissa uses her bee drones to exterminate her capturers, and fights Eddie's former allies. After finishing one off, one of Melissa's internal part malfunctions and Melissa is almost killed, but Eddie saves her in time. A drone then appears behind Eddie and tries to shoot him, but Melissa blocks the shot for him and destroys the drone.
After fixing Melissa again, Eddie tells Melissa that she can visit when she wants to. Melissa then slashes Eddie, and Eddie lays on the ground, motionless.
Character Quest 3: Sprout[edit]
On the airport, Melissa executes a Synth Human with her bee drones. However, when she tells her bee drones to come back, she finds the bee drone B00-1 missing.
Melissa finds B00-1, and wonders why it is ignoring her commands. She reports this to her maker, who tells her to go see him in Xeno-Domain.
In the Industrial Sector of Xeno-Domain, Melissa's maker reveals that B00-1 disobeyed because Melissa has developed a sense of self. He also reveals that the previous models have all developed sentience as well. He then commands Melissa to stab herself through her core. Melissa attempts to do this but fails multiple times. Her maker then tells her to exterminate her bee drones, but she fails as well. Melissa attempts a final time to stab herself in the core.
Melissa, in darkness, wonders if she has died and if her bee drones were there in the darkness as well. She finds one of her bee drones, which lead her to images of herself. The images of herself tells her of the weight of her guilt, of life itself. Then, a light shines from the darkness, and Melissa walks into this light.
Melissa finds herself in Eddie's room. An alive Eddie reveals that he saw her when he was walking past the trash, and Melissa asks how he survived. Eddie reveals that Melissa failed to destroy his hidden backup battery even though she knew it was there. Melissa requests Eddie to kill her, but Eddie insists that there is no shame in losing the will to harm. Eddie also asks Melissa to give herself a chance. Melissa's bee drones then return to her, with Eddie revealing that he also fixed them, but got rid of B00-1. Eddie once again tells Melissa that she can visit when she wants to. Melissa decides to find Aldo.
A surprised Aldo finds Melissa in the Spacetime Rift. Aldo tells Melissa to tell him her story, and afterwards invite her to check out cities. Melissa then ponders what life means for Eddie, Aldo, her maker, the ones she killed, and herself.
