Profile[edit]

Introduction Dialog[edit]

Your name is Aldo then, is it? I’ve… Heard the name before… But I’m just so dodgy when it comes to sticking names to faces, you see… I do hope you understand. I’m Ewella. Just another elf. Oh, would you look at that. Heh. Your star alignment is quite special. Perhaps you’ve met… Mmmmm… Nevermind… I do hope we get along, Aldo. I truly do.

Story[edit]

Character Quest 1[edit]

To Each Their Own

Ewella is surrounded by a lot of people in Palsifal Palace. It seems the commotion has something to do with her work.

Aldo spots Ewella surrounded by a few people in the halls of Palsifal Palace. She tells him that she was selling protective charms and invites him to help her sell more in Acteul.

When they arrive, an angry man approaches Ewella to buy some, saying that his partner told him to. He explains that she tried to improve her luck with the amulet charms, but they haven’t been working, so he wants a custom one made especially for her, threatening them with violence, much to Aldo’s annoyance, although Ewella pays it no mind.

Ewella obliges, telling Aldo that she will need special materials found in Vasu Mountains. While searching for the flamestone, Ewella tells Aldo that Elven amulets do grant wishes, but their conversation is interrupted by a dinosaur. They defeat it and find a flamestone on the ground. Ewella then uses it to make the special amulet.

They head over to Ratle to give the amulet to the couple. The girl takes the amulet and makes a wish, when suddenly the ground shakes and they see a monster come in. The young man is injured defending his partner, but Aldo quickly defeats it. The angry guy tells Ewella to leave, since her amulet didn’t work, so the pair make plans to return to Acteul, but the girl runs after them and thanks Ewella for granting her wish.

She clarifies to a confused Aldo that she wished to remain unlucky to have her boyfriend keep worrying for her. The two head back to Acteul to sell off the remaining amulet charms and Ewella reveals that she originally made only one amulet for a special someone specifically. Aldo then questions helping the abusive girl who wished for bad luck. Ewella rationalizes that happiness is different for each person and that it is not up for other people to judge, but the girl will be responsible if something bad ever happens.

Character Quest 2[edit]

An Elf's Job

Ewella says that she wants to give a new amulet to someone. She goes to Acteul with Aldo to meet this person.

While walking through Lake Tiilen, Ewella asks Aldo to go with her to Acteul to replace the special amulet that she made for her special someone, although it is not clear how she knew that it broke, since that person didn’t tell her.

Upon arrival, Ewella immediately approaches Radica, noting somewhat creepily that her amulet had broken and brought her a new one. She also abruptly brings up the job that Radica was on and Radica explains to Aldo that Ratchett has asked her to bring her some spirit nectar, which is proving to be difficult for her, since she is a dark elf.

Ewella, who is seemingly also close with Ratchett, volunteers to get some for her, so Ewella and Aldo head to the Corinda Plains to find some wind spirits. Ewella suggests using a spell that would make her be seen as an ally to the spirit, and in a long and somewhat creepy tangent recounts her younger days spent with Radica.

She finishes her story after a brief intervention from Aldo, and casts the spell to seemingly no effect. After a few seconds of waiting, they see a few wind spirits approach when Ewella asks for the location of the nectar, much to Aldo’s surprise.

As they make their way to the nectar, they see a monster attempting to steal some of the nectar from the wind spirits, seemingly attracted by the drink. After taking care of it, they receive their portions of the nectar and head back to Palsifal Palace. They meet up with Radica on their way to Ratchett, however Ewella remembers something and excuses herself from the other two.

Aldo accompanies Radica while she finished her job, but stays behind to ask Ratchett about why she told Ewella about Radica’s job, thinking that it is not right for her to talk to Ewella about Radica’s business. Ratchett reveals to Aldo that she doesn’t know anyone named Ewella, leaving Aldo very confused.

Character Quest 3[edit]

Feelings of a Hero

Ewella is called upon by the elves in her home village. Apparently they have something important to talk about.

Aldo is standing outside of the Palsifal Palace’s gates waiting for Ewella to come out of the palace, when she suddenly approaches him from behind. They talk for a bit until Ewella mentions that she has been summoned to the Charol Plains by the elves from her hometown. Ever the friend, Aldo joins her and they both make their way there.

When they arrive at the location, they notice that there are no elves in sight, however Ewella begins talking to a nearby cat, calling it the boss of this area. Ewella tells Aldo to take the cat to its favorite napping spot, a task she would have been the one to do had she not needed to wait for the elves from her hometown.

She convinces Aldo to go, saying that the elves probably will not arrive for a while. However, as soon as he takes off, Ewella turns her attention to an elf hidden out of sight. He thanks her for coming and explains that her summons have something to do with Radica’s corruption, referring to her breaking of the elf taboo and becoming a dark elf.

He asks her for Radica’s location to carry out the task, but she refuses. She instead proposes that she will carry out the task of killing her instead. The elf doesn’t trust her, since she is apparently the daughter of a sinner, and requests a witness to confirm her completion of the task, and Ewella proposes Aldo due to his honest nature. The elf obliges and leaves, leaving an eavesdropping Aldo completely shocked at the conversation in front of him.

He approaches Ewella feigning ignorance and she tells Aldo that they should go and see Radica. Aldo goes along out of caution, and so they make their way to Acteul where Radica is performing her fortune-telling in the Acteul tavern. Ewella offers to buy fruit water for everyone and they begin recounting a few shared childhood stories until Ewella mentions that she was always treated like a black sheep in the village, leaving a curious Aldo to ask why.

She explains that when she was young her mother turned into a dark elf for breaking a taboo, and in turn all of the villagers except for Radica ostracized her. She recalls her first meeting with Radica, eventually leading the conversation to a children’s story they read together about a princess and her friend who had to say goodbye forever, where in the end the princess tells her friend her feelings.

Aldo, seeing the connection, worries that Ewella is revealing all of her feelings now in the same way. This worry only grows when he sees Ewella suddenly saying sorry to Radica and approaching her. Before she can reach her, the bartender arrives with their drinks, and Ewella apologizes to Radica for forgetting how long the drink takes to make.

Aldo is stunned at the quick change of expression, but quickly begins to worry that Ewella may have spiked Radica’s drink. Aldo awkwardly switches his drink with hers and confirms that it is okay, but he still watches to see if Ewella tries anything else. They share the drink and toast to their friendship when Ewella suggests to Radica that it is time for her to head to her next job. She gets up and goes to attend to her job, saying goodbye to the both of them while leaving.

Ewella then tells Aldo that she has one more person she needs to meet at the Corinda Plains, and the both of them head off. They don’t see anyone when they arrive, but they are suddenly attacked by a hooded figure. Ewella strikes them down, revealing someone who suspiciously looks a lot like Ewella. Aldo freaks out a bit, but Ewella explains that this figure is the future version of herself that turned dark.

Dark Ewella explains that she has been living in a world without Radica for eons, but eventually science has developed enough to allow her to go back in time. She stole the power of time from her elf village and turned herself into stone, waiting for a chance to protect Radica, much to Aldo’s confusion. Dark Ewella ends her talk with her other self and dies in front of them both, leaving behind a crystal.

Ewella explains to Aldo that both elves and dark elves revert to crystals upon death, and she plans to hand in her future self’s crystal as proof that she completed her mission of exterminating Radica. Aldo feels troubled at this solution, but Ewella explains to him that this is the future she chose, telling him that her happiness is to live and die for Radica.

They head back to the Charol Plains, where Ewella hands the crystal to the elf waiting for them. They successfully trick the elf, but Aldo still doesn’t feel like this was the best solution. Ewella convinces him otherwise and monologues about putting Radica’s crystal next to hers when she dies, reunited for eternity.
