Story[edit]

Character Quest 1[edit]

The Mysterious Breeno

Breeno is a member of an order of knights. The already mysterious man only gets more mysterious...

Breeno and Aldo are walking through Unigan when Breeno stops to talk to a Bard. The two have a whispered conversation, and Breeno hands the Bard a bribe. Back with Aldo, Breeno then says that he has a job to do elsewhere - and, Aldo being Aldo, he insists on helping Breeno. The two head to Nuaru Uplands to begin.

As they approach Nuaru, they encounter another of Miglance’s knights. The Young Knight chastises Breeno for skipping training, but Breeno refuses to join him. The other knight leaves, but not before warning Aldo about Breeno’s dubious reputation, and declaring that he will discover whatever business Breeno is wrapped up in.

The two continue further into Nuaru and arrive just outside the Moonlight Forest. Aldo is suspicious of Breeno’s true job after the conversation with the young knight, and believes that Breeno is hiding something from him. Someone’s cry of distress interrupts their conversation and the two rush to the scene. Aldo and Breeno save a mining engineer, who explains that he had secretly found a huge Prisma vein in the area. The mining engineer leaves, and Breeno suddenly tells Aldo to follow him back to Unigan.

Breeno and Aldo watch the mining engineer enter the castle. Breeno is suspicious of the mining engineer’s earlier claim that his Prima discovery was a secret. He adds that the mining engineer is hiding something incredibly important, but cannot answer when Aldo pushes the topic further.

The young knight approaches again and asks about Breeno’s mission, only for Breeno to tell him nothing. The knight questions Aldo, but he covers for Breeno’s silence by saying that he had special sword training, which satisfies the Young Knight. The young knightexcuses himself and warmly offers Breeno’s help if he needs it before leaving.

When asked why he covered for Breeno’s silence, Aldo says that he believes in him and his intentions. However, Aldo adds that he feels Breeno should trust the young knight. Breeno responds that he will not - he may have been the one who got Breeno into the knighthood, but if it were him against the monster from before, he might very well lose his nose for sticking it into this business, and Breeno would hate himself for letting the knight be killed. Aldo reassures Breeno that at the very least, he doesn’t have to worry about Aldo.

Character Quest 2[edit]

Dark Elf

Breeno is chasing after something that he claims is vital to the security of the kingdom. Together with Aldo he closes in on the secret...

Together in Unigan, Aldo witnesses Breeno get chastised again by the young knight for keeping quiet about the formidable Prisma vein in Nuaru Uplands. Breeno, immediately alarmed, realises that the young knight acquired the information from the same bard he bribed in the previous quest. He then warns the young knight to not get involved, leaving the young knight frustrated. The young knight wants Breeno to ask for help. “Why ask for help you don’t need?” Breeno says. “This isn’t a problem you can help with.”

After the young knight leaves, Breeno and Aldo head to the tavern to confirm who the young knight had heard of the Prisma vein from. The bard, the information broker, coincidentally walks in as they speak. Breeno then threatens the information broker with violence and as a result he confirms that yes, the young knight bought information from him. The information broker then offers some information for free. The young knight’s been “taken by some strange people,” saying that he was headed to the Serena Coast. Shocked, Breeno immediately leaves the tavern.

Midway through the Serena Coast, Aldo and Breeno are intercepted by a man. He claims that he has the young knight, and sets a monster on Breeno and Aldo. After defeating it, Breeno threatens the man and asks where the young knight is being held. They learn that the information broker had lied; the young knight was actually in Karek Swampland.

The young knight wakes up drugged in Karek Swampland, and a cloaked man who calls himself the “God of Death” appears before him. He intends to kill the young knight for knowing too much about the Prisma vein. Aldo and Breeno arrive in time to stop the man in robe from killing the young knight, and discover that the information broker had sold the cloaked man information in exchange for his life. The information broker arrives on the scene then, with an item that the robed man requested. In their dialogue, Breeno speculates about the cloaked man’s leader, but the man in robe claims it doesn’t matter whether he guesses right or wrong, “the result will still be the same.” The information broker then reaches as if to give the requested item, only to detonate a bomb.

The information broker and man in robe dies. Breeno blames the young knight’s meddling for the events. He does not want the young knight to suffer because of him. Upon the bomb’s explosion, Breeno explains that, “[...]When I saw the flames… Every cell in my body shook. There was such a sense of déjà vu. As if it stirred a memory from deep within. [...]I was born from wickedness. Still, I have to stop those who were born with the same terrible fate.”
