Story[edit]

Character Quest 1: One Who Bestows the Blessing[edit]

[Synopsis: Yipha is ordered by the temple to conduct a ceremony for the new recruits. It seems that Aldo also must help with the preparations]

Yipha and Aldo are passing through Unigan when a group of knights runs past them, Aldo wonders if something is happening and Yipha explains they are preparing a ceremony for the new knight recruits named The Accolade. A yearly ritual to purify weapons and bless them with protection that will be later passed down to the new knights. Yipha has been assigned to hold this years ceremony and takes this task very seriously, although she has planned to prepare on her own Aldo insists to come along, they head to the moonlight forest.

Yipha collects the moondrops from the lake and Aldo wonders why the weapons are blessed instead of the knights, Yipha elaborates the ritual is based off a ancient legend, long time ago a sword which was said to be imbued with the wrath of the gods was unable to be wielded by any human, one day a brave warrior appeared who was said to be cleansed with the spring of the moonlight forest was finally able to wield the sword. Yipha says the ritual has changed over time, in the past the new knights had to forge their own weapons doused with the moondrops. Yipha silently recites her chant and obtains the needed moondrops, when they were about to leave a panicking knight appears who has been in search of Yipha, it seems they are more knights joining than originally anticipated. Yipha wants Aldo to collect further moondrops, though he is worried if he is really up to the taks being neither a priest nor knowing the chant, Yipha reassures him that she blessed him with some of her powers for the meantime and it should have the same effect as if she collected herself, Aldo worringly collects the moondrops and they finally make way for the place of the ceremony inside miglance castle. On their way back, they notice a group new recruits struggling to defeat a large monster, Aldo steps in and quickly defeats it. A while later, they decide to hold the ritual now for the eager knights, Yipha instructs Aldo to bestow their weapons with the moondrops and Yipha recites the prayers, they finally arrive at miglance castle to sent the knights off their ways.

On the balcony inside the castle Yipha and Aldo discuss the happenings when they get interrupted by the Knight Commander Lakhesis, he wonders why the The Accolade has been finished so fast, Yipha excuses herself saying she still has something to do and leaves, leaving Aldo and Lakhesis wondering where she ran off to. Lakhesis explains to Aldo that The Accolade is a lengthy and holy ritual which usually lasts until way past nightfall, Aldo is confused as what to happened now and why the ritual was cut so short, he searches for Yipha. Inside Hozuki's restaurant, where Yipha is drinking and eating happily, a angry Aldo appears behind her wanting a explanation why she took a shortcut for a holy ritual. Yipha being clearly drunk, does her best to explain that the ritual is too much work for her alone and decided for a more 'efficient' way to hold the ritual , Aldo is not satisfied with her answer but decideds to leave it at that.

Character Quest 2: The Real Me[edit]

[Synopsis: Yipha is ordered to perform a ritual to prevent a water disaster from occuring in Rinde. But somehow the temple has gotten word about her negligent nature] Yipha suddenly stops in her tracks complaining about a headache as it turns out she just wanted to be consulted by Aldo after being scolded by the head priest who is dissatisfied with Yipha taking shortcuts in her recent rituals. Yipha is sent to Rinde to give proper prayers to make up for the last one she finished in a haste, furthermore a turn of strange events have been sighted in Rinde, the head priest reckons it's related to Yipha not properly blessing the people of the town. The two arrive and are greeted by a man who tells them about the strange occurrences, fishing boats return with little to no catches due to always something happening when they go out making them unable to leave port in addition to that the cargo they were bringing back has vanished. Yipha assures the man she will take care of everything, after the man leaves Yipha wonders if it's the work of a ghost, which reminds her of a young girl at the temple she used to tell ghost story to when they were younger, the girl looked up to her very much and Yipha did her best to hide her lazy nature from her, Yipha cherished her like a little sister, as it turns out this girl was Mariel.

Yipha worries if she had gotten word already of her sloppy rituals recently, who would be heartbroken by the fact the person she admired so much is cutting her work short whenever she can. Just when they finished talking Mariel appears, Yipha is shocked and fears the rumors about her might have spread to her but Mariel says she hasn't been to the temple for a long time now since she ran away, she is in rinde to visit her favorite cat. Yipha is relieved she can continue to keep her act up in front of her after they part ways, Yipha is resolved to do her prayers properly this time for Mariel, they head to serena coast.

The two discuss how it's most likely not the work of monsters or random natural misfortunes, Yipha's prayers are meant to protect against monsters and would have no effect if they are humans behind all of it, furthermore the monsters have no reason to steal cargo from the boats. Just like Yipha predicted in their general direction they see two man taming a monster and run over to demand a answer from them they admit to everything but are unwilling to stop, a fight ensues. The criminals run away and the two are relieved Rinde won't have any problems in the future. Yipha is excited to meet Mariel again and swears to aldo she would never do something to dissapoint her, before Mariel came to the temple it was Yipha who was the priestess with the most promising potential it was also the reason why she was later appointed as Mariel's caretaker, despite Yipha being somewhat lazy at times the temple still holds her in high regards. Back in Rinde Yipha struggles to recite her chant for not doing it properly in such a long time, with the help of Mariel's cheer Yipha was able to succesfully bless rinde the intended way this time. Mariel says she is surprised seeing Yipha not skip most of the steps this time which leaves Yipha shocked she saw through her and starts crying, turns out Mariel has been sneaking after Yipha whenever she was given a job, when they were younger. Yipha is dissapointed in herself for not being a good enough adult to look up to but Mariel assures her she loves her regardless and always admired her free-spirit, Mariel reminds Yipha how she used to tell her it's ok to not be perfect all the time and as long as the prayers are done with goodwill and pureness it doesn't matter if it's done after the way the holy book meant to be. Mariel thanks Yipha for helping her out and it was thanks to her she made it this far and was able to live her life the way she wanted the two embrace each other and after a while return to Unigan. Aldo and Yipha head to the usual tavern, although Yipha is worried she might run into ´someone she doesn't want to see right now, Aldo wonders who this person is and suspects it's someone she is in love with, Yipha blushes heavily and starts tickling Aldo out of embarrassment. A very drunk Yipha has trouble walking on her own and Aldo invites her to lean on his shoulder, while the two are leaving, Bertrand enters the tavern and turns around.

Character Quest 3: An Uncontrollable Heart[edit]

[Synopsis: Yipha is unusually enthusiastic about a job received from the temple. Apparently, this job involves asking the townspeople about their problems.] Yipha is giving advice to a little girl after she finishes, Aldo appears behind her asking what she is doing, Yipha explains she was asked for love advice and anyone regardless of age can fall in love, it seems the man Yipha is in love is much older than her but even so she believes if they met it was destined to be. Yipha is embarassed by the fact she revealed so much to Aldo last time, while she was drunk although she has yet to reveal his name.

Today's deed from the temple involves asking the townspeople about their worries and solving probelems for them, Yipha is very passionate about this task even from a young age she loved helping out others and wants to continue to do her best for them. The two arrive at Rinde, a man runs over to them and starts crying, a while ago he was asked to invest into a store with for a lot of money, when the shop opened it was rundown and only sold cheap and fake items, ultimately vanishing and taking all of the merchants money. When the merchant approached him, his cat started acting strange and he was too worried to realize how strange the request of the merchant was.

They make their rounds in Rinde, and ask a young girl who recently got a boyfriend and is thankful to Yipha's advice for making it possible. Upon further conversing with her it appears she recently lent a large sum of money to him who turns out to be a merchant to build a Inn and buy expensive medicine for his sick parents, but he has disappeared after taking the money. The merchant also gave the girl a perculiar tea, the girl insists Yipha drinks it as well and she does. Another man approaches Yipha just like the other two before him he was swindled out of a lot of money as well, Aldo asks if he can further describe the man, he was a well-dressed gentleman with a very expensive brooch, however the man says it is a little strange since his brooch was that of a banyan leaf, which symbolizes misfortune.

Yipha points out how all of the victims are in some way involved with banyan leaves, the mans cat who reacted strangely to banyan, the girls tea which is made out of them and the mans brooch. Yipha figures it must be a way for the group of conartists to mark the victims they already took money from, if they mention any contact with banyan it signalizes the scammers to move on to the next victim. All the victims spoke about a Antique shop on the east of Rinde, the two reckon the conartists are most likely around serena coast. Yipha pretends to be joining their group in order to get more information from them, however when they mention she should fake a marriage to get the money Yipha becomes furious saying she could never marry a man other than the one she loves. The conartists briefly mention a one-eyed merchant who raided their former bandit hideouts, after the fight with one of their monsters the bandits claim they have Bertrand captured which, Yipha being lost in her worries doesn't notice the bandits have summoned another monster to attack her, just before it strikes her Bertrand appears out of nowhere and shields her. Bertrand summons the royal guards with the already captured bandit boss and the two conartists are also taken in now. Yiphas voice is heavily shaken when Bertrand asks her if she is injured. He continues to explain he feels guilty for overthrowing the bandit raids feeling he made it worse for the citizens with the scams they started running ever since. Everyone assures him it wasn't his fault, albeit Bertrand still feeling guilty he takes his leave. Aldo confronts Yipha directly, and she tells how she fell in love with Bertrand. When she was just a child she ran into Bertrands cloak to hide from a very angry head priestess, thinking he was a new garden ornament. Young Yipha is relucant to see him leave for some reason and offers to show him around the temple, Bertrand declines and says he only came out here to think about something deeply, the young girl tries to give him advice and he thinks about it Bertrand on his way out Yipha calls out to him again and ask him to be her shield. Aldo and Yipha run to Rinde, and Yipha tries Bertrand from leaving via the port, Aldo hides in the bushes while Yipha tries to convince him to stay with her, after a heartfelt speech she confesses her love very quietly, and Bertrand thanks her for telling how she feels however the way he interpreted was to continue to protect the people of this land where he is still needed. Yipha agrees with him and Bertrand assures her if she ever needs him he will be there for her, Bertrand leaves. Aldo comes out of his hiding and questions whether this is how it was supposed to be, Yipha's confession might not have been heard but he remembred her and this still makes her very happy.

Back in Hozuki's tavern Yipha has been drinking again, Yipha aims to become a woman who will be worthy to be Bertrand's wife one day, though she still has show him her true self Aldo comforts her by saying he will accept her regardless. At a different time, Lakhesis and Bertrand are drinking together, Lakhesis worries that he isn't thinking about his own future and life enough, Bertrand shrugs it off by saying his life is already filled with bad decisions after another, being convinced his only purpose left is to aid others. Bertrand is aware of Yipha is feelings but cannot return them feeling like he would only hinder a life with so much potential and life.
