Profile[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Claude is a student at IDA School with long, flowing mint green hair. As an IDEA officer, he wears an all-white uniform comprised of white slacks, a white sweater vest over a red tie and a white cape with purple lining. He keeps his hair tied low.

Personality[edit]

Claude is the rightful king of Kelkale, a once prosperous kingdom below the floating islands of the future timeline. As the descendent of its last surviving nobles, he takes his responsibility and demeanor very seriously. He behaves in a formal, majestic manner befitting his lineage.

He wields Duon Helios -- a sacred bow that is said to have pierced the sun in Kelkale's creation myth. Upon meeting Aldo, he had only six arrows left. He spent one arrow to destroy the clocktower in Mayu's Dream World and one to break a hole in the dome trapping everyone in Lord of Mana.

Story[edit]

Quest 1: My Kingdom's First Vassal[edit]

Meanwhile at IDA School, a professor and a student are arguing. The student appears to be a friend of Claude’s…

While walking through IDA School, Claude and Aldo stumble upon a teacher scolding a student for missing class. Claude recognizes the student as his childhood friend. The childhood friend refuses to explain his absence and leaves without acknowledging Claude. Surprised, Claude and Aldo investigate and find out from other students that he has been acting strangely and speaking to black market "device" sellers at the Elzion Airport.

Claude and Aldo go to the airport to intervene and observe the childhood friend meeting with some troublemakers. The troublemakers are coercing him into stealing from airport containers. When Claude confronts him, he is rebuffed. They trace him back to Elzion making a deal with the troublemakers. When they are discovered, the troublemakers send security drones after them, which are dispatched with ease. Claude tells the troublemakers he will allow them to escape if they promise to leave his friend alone. They agree and flee, and Claude processes a warrant for their arrest.

Claude's childhood friend reveals that he was tricked into doing some illegal hacking and that the group has been blackmailing him ever since. He did not go to Claude for help because he felt that he wouldn't remember someone as lowly as him. Claude assures him that he will always protect his retainers. A flashback is shown where the friend pledges to be his Claude's first retainer. The friend is surprised that he took the oath seriously, but appreciates it. He swears to help Claude restore his kingdom, and the two leave to talk through his plans.

Quest 2: The Die is Cast[edit]

Claude is stopped by the Shopkeeper at Ishar’s. He asks him for some kind of analysis…

At Ishtar's, Za'ol has an update about a family heirloom that Claude brought in for analysis. He cannot say much except that it is sealed with powerful magic. Family legend says the heirloom is required to verify the rightful heir to throne of Kelkale, but the specific instructions have been lost to time. Aldo suggests finding an expert mage, which is hard to find in the future, but common in Aldo's time. They head to Unigan.

On the streets of Unigan, they run into King Miglance touring the town. Claude and Miglance get into a discussion about what makes a kingdom great: Claude believes it is the example that the king sets; Miglance believes that a kingdom that relies on one person is fragile. Claude is impressed by him and resolves to follow his example. Aldo suggests being himself, as playing at king is actually less regal.

At Miglance Castle, they find a mage who tells them the heirloom requires an incantation and blood from the chosen lineage. Claude recalls a family maxim passed down to use as the incantation. The mage tries to warn them about some other magic trapped inside besides the barrier, but Claude is impatient and leaves. They head to the IDA School's Sky Terrace to begin the ceremony.

In his desire to truly become king, Claude recklessly rushes into the activation ceremony despite Aldo's warning. A Guard Beast is summoned and challenges Claude to prove he is king through battle. The beast is defeated and Claude's right to rule is affirmed. The heirloom gives him the knowledge of his forefathers, and therefore, the knowledge to rebuild his kingdom.

Quest 3: The Last King[edit]

Claude intends to ascend his family’s royal throne. Meanwhile, a childhood

friend of his seems to be plotting something…

Claude's childhood friend/retainer calls him, angry that he activated the heirloom without him. They decide to begin rebuilding by performing the inheritance rite at the Sky Terrace. The rite is a ceremony passed through the royal line. The instructions were contained within the heirloom. The ceremony summons a chest which contains "a recording of sorts," which they decide must go onto a device that can read it. The childhood friend goes to provide hacking support at his terminal, while Aldo and Claude head to Xeno Domain.

Using a terminal, they disable a firewall and install "a piece of information" into Xeno-Domain's database. Aldo is kept in the dark about what the program does. Security drones try to stop them, but they are unable to activate further security measures due to their hacking. When they are dispatched, the two head back to IDA School to see the fruits of their labor.

Back at school, they open up a personal history database and reveal to Aldo what they've done: the heirloom contained the entirety of the history, culture and technology of the Kingdom of Kelkale. It was a technologically-advanced kingdom that was feared by its neighboring states. Those states came together and eradicated not just the kingdom, but every trace of its existence. By putting the data into Xeno-Domain's database, the existence of Kelkale is part of the public record once again.

The program Claude installed also allowed them to distribute the information to the Elzion network -- thereby accessible by common people. This work has rebuilt the kingdom once again, in the memories of the people. Claude recalls the lesson he learned from King Miglance: a country is its people. He resolves to no longer be the last king, but the first king of a newfound nation. He speculates about using his accumulated wealth to launch a new plate or return to the surface of the Earth. Claude and his childhood friend embark on their plans for a new nation.

AS Quest: The Kingdom Rises, Once Again[edit]

Claude was absorbed in studying the history of Kelkale. From its influence, a journey in search of a book had begun…

Claude informs Aldo that he has begun working at IDA school's library. He recruits Aldo to go with him to the Macminal Museum library to search for information about the kingdom of Kelkale. At the museum library, Aldo and Claude discover books that describe the history of the Kelkale royal family, Kelkale relaxation exercises, and some reports on magical experiments meant to lift the kingdom into the sky. Apparently Kelkalans were developing the ability to create floating platforms but were wiped out before they achieved success.

As Claude moves a book on the shelf, it begins to glow and flies out of his hand. To his surprise, Cynthia appears from inside the book. She thanks Claude for awakening her and asks him if he is a prince. Claude confirms that he is. Cynthia tells them both to meet her at Last Island, where she will explain what happened.

On the beach of Last Island, Cynthia tells Aldo and Claude that she is a princess of an age long past who was sealed inside the book until being released by Sophia. She reveals that she was involved in the first attempt to create a floating island but was attacked and sealed away by her enemies. She is thrilled to meet Claude because two members of the royal line are needed to perform the levitation ritual. Now that Claude and Cynthia are together they can raise their ancient kingdom into the sky. Claude changes into his formal royal dress uniform and waves the flag of the Kelkale royal family.

Cynthia and Claude begin to cast the levitation spell. Magic swirls around them and the spell appears to be working, but as the dust clears it is revealed that they have only summoned a trio of violent D-mechs from the surface. They defeat the machines, but the machines begin to self-destruct. Fortunately Claude blocks the blast with his flag, which turns about to be another powerful relic of his kingdom, like his bow.

Aldo, Cynthia and Claude return to Macminal Museum library. Cynthia states that her full name is Cynthia La Magnolia. She and Claude realize that they are not from the same ancient kingdom at all. The levitation ritual didn't work because they are from different royal bloodlines. Cynthia tells Claude that the kingdom of Magnolia was allied with Kelkale, but Kelkale was attacked and destroyed before Magnolia could respond. She apologizes and returns to her book. Instead of being disappointed, Claude is thrilled that he and his kingdom have an ally, even if it's only one person. He vows to read every book in the library and rushes off to discover anything else he can find about his kingdom's history.

ES Quest: Margins of History[edit]

Claude studies the ways of royalty, hoping to one day resurrect his fallen kingdom. A notice arrives that a royal jewel has been found…

After visiting all the kingdoms of the past, Aldo and Claude go back to Elzion. Determined to rebuild his own kingdom, Claude plans to create a website and market its history. The two are interrupted by Claude’s friend, who informs them that he has retrieved a jewel that looks like the dragon soul that is already in Claude’s possession.

Claude proposes that they go to the IDA School rooftop to perform the ceremony and confirm that the jewel is truly connected to his kingdom. Once they reach it, however, he reveals that his friend has been possessed. Indeed, a spirit comes out of him and introduces himself as the fragment of Kelkale’s soul that was cut off when the dragon was sealed away.

The Guard Beast from Claude’s dragon soul comes out and explains that the other spirit was formed from resentment, as he is the cursed dragon defeated by King Siegmund. The cursed spirit claims that he was falsely accused and killed for a crime he did not commit, but the Guard Beast warns Claude not to trust his lies.

After a brief battle, the cursed spirit defeats the Guard Beast, cracking Claude’s jewel. Aldo and Claude then start fighting him, but Claude wavers when the dragon asks him who else still knows the name of Kelkale and who needs something that has been forgotten for so long. This moment of doubt gives the vengeful dragon the opportunity to take control of Claude’s mind, as he plans to burn his country and his people in order to have him slain as an evil dragon. Isuka arrives just in time to see Claude’s body in a dragon form fly away.

The real Claude is in the spirit world talking to Kelkale, who explains that the evil him used his blood to manipulate him and turn him into a dragon just like it happened to King Claudio. He then gives him the same robes and the sword Hyperion that he previously gave King Khajemis, changing him to his Kelkale Style. Claude will be able to use Kelkale’s power of sharing though Hyperion. Indeed, he manages to catch a glimpse of the evil Kelkale rampaging through IDA School in the real world.

Claude thus hurries to go back and expel the evil dragon from himself. While fighting off a manifestation of the evil Kelkale attacking a child version of himself, he flashes back to a memory of his great-grandfather teaching him that those blessed with plenty should share with others instead of hoarding it away for themselves, as he sold their sacred artifacts to donate the money to people in need.

He then slays another manifestation of the evil Kelkale attacking a young version of himself and flashes back to the time he joined IDEA: he told Isuka and Hismena that he wished to join them, because he had the power to protect the weak. He thinks that the evil dragon is no match for Isuka and Hismena, his friends and rivals whose competition only betters him.

Finally, he kills another evil Kelkale and is brought to a time he doesn’t recognize. He first witnesses King Siegmund falsely accusing Kelkale of stealing the sun and slaying him and then King Khajemis asking him to stop cursing his kingdom, offering his life in exchange.

After various visits, Khajemis managed to befriend Kelkale, who gave him the robes and the blade to allow him to see who would try to kill him during a succession war. However, Khajemis decided not to look at who wished for his death, claiming to be too timid to do so, and came back to the dragon with a deadly injury. He then asked him to watch over his family for him, acknowledging his kindness. Kelkale obliged, but made himself forget that they were friends in the first place, as he was tasked to protect the very people who killed him.

In the real world, Aldo, Isuka, Saki, and Hismena are fighting the dragon, although they are worried about hurting Claude. Luckily, Claude manages to communicate with them and asks them to stall for some time. He then manages to open a portal that leads him to the dragon that has taken control over his body.

Claude confronts him about his vengeance for Khajemis and slays him, but he appears again, explaining that he cannot die as long as Claude is alive, since they are connected. Claude thus tells his friends that they need to kill the dragon from the outside and within. Hismena reluctantly obliges, much to Saki’s shock.

As the vengeful dragon starts disappearing, he laments that no one will know the truth about his friend Khajemis, and Claude acknowledges that he truly is a kind dragon that truly loved his friend. Kelkale states that Khajemis was like him, as he was murdered by humans and his life was distorted into some convenient fairy tale, but also like Claude, as he too forced his way into others’ hearts and acted for the sake of others.

Kelkale then reveals that Hismena stopped her lance just before piercing Claude’s heart and says that he will go back to sleep for as long as Claude doesn’t go astray. Claude in turn vows to tell everyone their true history and wakes up in the real world, where his friends are happy to see that he is still alive and send him to ElziMed.

Finally, Aldo goes to see him and finds him with his childhood friend, who is apologizing for finding the jewel. Claude instead thanks him for getting it for him and reveals to both him and Aldo that he is compiling a new history book of the Kingdom of Kelkale with the new information he has gathered, revealing that the kingdom began with the sin of dragon-slaying. He has also added the details about the time-loop, which the friend finds hard to believe, but Claude is determined to write down the whole truth, regardless of what people might think.

Gameplay[edit]

Claude is a wind elemental supporter and attacker. He can boost piercing damage while also debuffing the enemy's intelligence and power. As a result, he is useful for enhancing the damage done by piercers and other mages.
