Lord of Mana

From Another Eden Wiki
Lom-title.jpg

The main content of this episode focuses on the in-universe virtual reality MMO, Lord of Mana. Your party's level and gear is irrelevant when you set foot in the game, and you have to raise your party almost from scratch within the MMO's mechanics. If you wish to return to the overworld, you can logout at any time from the menu.

As you begin, you must choose a class for Aldo to take. As he levels up, you get to customize his gear and skills available with the unique menus. New skills can be purchased in the skill menu for Ability Points that are gained from leveling up, but Ability Points can never be refunded. You can change class with the assistance of an NPC in the Deserted Village, but your levels and Ability Points will not carry over between classes. Your party members don't have these options and are fixed to three skills and basic equipment.

While you will mostly have Hismena and the Operator as your initial party members, you can go about and recruit more IDA characters to assist you. Several IDA NPCs are available in the overworld, while IDA party members can be found loitering in Aldo's room.

Also unique to this minigame is a Friend Rank. This increases the damage your party members do, and hitting the max rank of 3 is needed to reap the episode's completion rewards. You gain Friend Points through a few activities - fighting and winning a random battle with them will yield 1 Friend Point, while spending time and Ida credit.pngIDAbits in Port Lezona yields Points equal to 1/5th of the Ida credit.pngIDAbits you spent. Once you reach the point threshold, you will have to talk to the Friend again to advance their Rank. NPC friends must be talked to in the overworld (outside Port Lezona) to trigger the rank up, while IDA party members must be spoken to in-game for the same effect.

Within the Tower of Stone and Tower of Bone, you can also find a Platinum Slime enemy on the second floor of each Tower. It doesn't attack and is easy to defeat, and it yields 1,000,000 EXP, 10,000 Ida credit.pngIDAbits, and occasionally a random in-game badge for Aldo. The Platinum Slime will respawn every 6 hours or after defeating 50 enemies (Aldo swatting away enemies in-game does count), whichever comes first, and will always replace one random enemy within those environments.

Battles are commenced by running into the overworld enemy. Leaving and re-entering the map (or entering into the skills area) will respawn all enemies on the map. If your team severely outranks the enemy, Aldo will swat them away with no experience or Friend Points gained.

User Interface in LoM is much different from the one used in the overworld. This page lists differences and explains different menus you can access in LoM.

  • Interface has Blue & White colors, opposed to Grey & Black used in overworld.
  • While you can access Menu and Quests as usual, Menu items are different. Quests tab has no differences from overworld one, and lets you see both overworld and LoM quests.
  • Differences in Menu items:
    • While Party button exists, it opens a list with 1 to 4 slots – your current party. It doesn't have portraits, only names and class icons. You can't choose party members while in this menu (you have to talk to party members in Castle Town to do it), you can check Status of each current party member.
      • Status window looks different as well, but it has all the info you can see in overworld character status screen: level, HP/MP, physical/magical attack/defense, PWR/END/LCK/INT/SPD/SPR and list of currently equipped skills. There also is Friend Rank and Friendship Points info for party members other than Aldo. Changing skills and equipment is done using different Menu items.
    • Equip button teleports you to a location which looks like Spacetime Rift. There you can choose weapon and armor for Aldo to equip, among the ones you own. You can also choose which badge to equip, if you have any. While you can see all types of weapons and armors, trying to interact with wrong one results in following message: "The current job cannot equip this weapon/armor." You can exit this menu either by a portal behind you (takes you back to your in-game location) or by using other menu items.
    • Skill button also teleports you to a location which looks like Spacetime Rift. This time, there are many baskets with water, connected by lines on the floor formed by square elements. Each basket resembles a skill, while lines resemble skill links. This is your skill tree. By interacting with a "skill nod" you can read skill description, choose to learn and/or set the skill. Skills you have learned are resembled by shining baskets (light looks the same way as light under holograms in Elzion), while skills you can learn, should you have enough AP, are resembled by baskets with shining violet dot above them. You can exit this menu through other menu items or through portal on either side of "skill tree".
    • Logout button returns you into overworld. Upon return you will spawn in Castle Town.
    • Following buttons don't exist in LoM interface:
      • Map
      • Grasta
      • Board
      • Dreams
      • Items
      • Records
      • Notices
      • Other
      • Cats
      • Food
      • Inbox (you still can receive Inbox while in-game, so you won't miss log-in rewards)
      • Reward chest
      • UI hide button
      • Buy Chronos Stones
      • Display of Git or Chronos Stones (IDAbits amount isn't displayed either)
  • A certain game character named Guide can be considered part of UI. While out of Castle Town, if you stand still for a few seconds, he appears beside Aldo. If you tap on him, he suggests sending you back to Castle Town.

The rest of the UI is mostly represented by certain NPCs and interacting with them, and is covered in other subpages.

LoM world has many similarities with "real" world, for example, Castle Town resembles Unigan, while soldiers look either like the ones from Antiquity or from Present. King looks like King Palsifal, and the rest of NPCs look like random people from either Antiquity or Present.
Moving between locations is done in one of two possible ways: going through portals or warping through warp crystals. The last one is only possible if you've found and activated warp crystal at your destination, while portals may be locked behind certain quests. For example, "Withered Fields" can only be accessed after you initiate "The Imperial Invader" quest given by the Princess at the Castle.
When logging in, you spawn in Castle Town in front of warp crystal.
Following is a list of locations with points of interest, enemies and real-world inspirations.

There are 3 classes in LoM, called "jobs": Soldier (sword, slash), Archer (bow, pierce) and Sorcerer (staff, magic). Each class has its own set of equipment and skills. While your party members' class and skills are predetermined, Aldo's class can be chosen at the start of the game, as well as after reaching Deserted Village (there's NPC in the Inn, next to the warp crystal), and you can learn and equip any skill.
Changing class doesn't change your equipment, so you don't have to re-equip everything after returning to class you've been playing as before.

Soldier[edit]

The main part of a Soldier's job is attacking. They have high power and endurance.
They unleash deadly blows on the enemy while shielding their comrades from attacks.*

While Soldier's attack may be high and his buffs are powerful, he can attack only single target and his buffs only affect himself. Can be used as DPS against single enemies, but becomes less useful if you fight against 2 or 3 opponents. Can assume tank role, but needs "Warrior's Soul" skill to provoke enemies for this.
Wears blue outfit regardless of gender.
The least recommended choice for Aldo, since other party members can deal much higher damage due to Friend Rank bonus.

Archer[edit]

An Archer is tricky job that requires speed in fighting.
You disorient your enemy then land a critical hit to deal massive damage.*

Archer focuses on debuffs and all-target attacks. While his attacks are not as powerful as Soldier's, his basic attack (as well as most skills) targets all enemies which may prove useful in battles against multiple opponents, and using self-buffs and enemy debuffs properly can severely increase Archer's damage output. Aside from debuffs, certain skill can Stun single enemy. Archer is the only class to have a "Fukahi-Laser" skill with fixed 9,999,999 damage (survivable only by certain bosses), and the only class to have unreachable skill due to lack of AP. Fukahi-Laser skill is exclusive to party member Fukahire.
Males wear green outfit, while females wear yellow one.
You can choose this class for Aldo if you want to assume debuffer or crowd controller (using stun) role. In terms of damage he still will be outdone by other party members.

Sorcerer[edit]

A Sorcerer's main job is to heal.
Sorcerers possess special defensive skills for various types of enemy attacks.*

Sorcerer has several roles: healer, buffer, elemental damage dealer. Sorcerer's basic attack deals magic attack to a single enemy and restores 20% HP to all party members at turn end (restoration stacks if several sorcerers use this attack at the same turn). He also has several percentage-based healing skills and skills which apply buffs on the whole party. The only class to have elemental skills targeting all enemies, which may prove useful while farming using enemy weaknesses.
Males wear dark red outfit while females wear dark violet one.
Support sorcerer is the most recommended choice for Aldo, since this class isn't supposed to deal high damage, but help other party members survive or deal even higher damage. * In-game description.

You can recruit certain NPCs or party members in overworld and make them available to join your LoM party by fulfilling certain conditions and then interacting with them in overworld.
Once you recruit them, they join you as Rank 1 Friends, whom you can ask to join your party. Friends with higher Ranks have much higher stats, you also receive additional rewards for reaching Friend Rank 3 with each friend (check episode page for the list of rewards).
To increase Friend Rank, you need to earn enough Friendship Points (amount varies) and interact with the character (in-game for party members, in overworld for NPCs). NPCs can be upgraded up to Rank 3, while party members can be upgraded up to Rank 4. However, you can upgrade party members to Rank 2 immediately after recruiting them.
To earn Friendship Points, you either need to win* a LoM battle with them in your party (awards 1 point) or spend time with them in Port Lezona.
List of possible hangouts:

Location Price Friendship Points
Food Court Ida credit.png500100
Cafe Ida credit.png800160
Movie Theater Ida credit.png1800360
Jewelry Shop Ida credit.png100002000

Aside from stats increase and rewards, reaching maximum Friend Rank may change character's dialogue in overworld and/or let you enter their room in IDA dorm.
* Aldo swatting enemies does not count towards this.

Any characters who can be part of your roster must not be in the active party before you can interact with them in the overworld.
